  • How often should I have a General Pest Treatment done?

Generally we recommend a General Pest Treatment be completed annually to protect you against webbing spiders, cockroaches and silverfish however it depends on where your house is located and what pests are a problem for you. Some clients like to have the service completed 6 monthly.

  • Will the pesticide wash away if it rains the day after you sprayed my house?

Not generally. Once the pesticide has dried and bonded to the surface it has been applied to, it will not wash away (unless there’s a flood!) Generally it is the UV light that breaks the pesticide down over time.

  • What happens if it’s raining or looks like it’s going to rain?

If it’s raining or looks like it will rain at the time of your appointment, we will contact you and arrange another suitable date to complete the service for you. If it rains shortly after we have completed an external pesticide treatment and the pesticide has not had a chance to dry, we will arrange another date to respray the external areas again for you.

  • If I see a spider or bug and want it identified, what should I do?

You can handle this a few different ways. You can take a picture of it and send it to BugDetective if you have downloaded our free app and we will identify it for you. You can also email a picture in to our office for identification or you can carefully capture it in a jar or container and bring it in to one of our offices and we will identify for you. Just remember, if you think it’s too risky to capture it, then don’t! Please be careful!!!

  • Should I empty out my kitchen cupboards?

No, this is not necessary. We generally do not use wet pesticide sprays in kitchen cupboards. We use a special cockroach gel and place this near the internal hinges of your kitchen cupboards. Depending on what the pest situation is, we will advise at the time of service if items need to be removed from cupboards. But generally you don’t need to remove anything.

  • Should I leave the building while you are completing the service?

Not necessarily but we respect your decision to leave if you wish. The pesticides we use are safe for use around people and pets and do not stain or generally have an odour. There is only one product that we do use that has a slight smell and that is a space spray made from chrysanthemum flowers. Once the windows are opened, this slight smell will dissipate, there is no residual. We only use the best quality pesticides available form the most reputable manufacturers.

  • How often should I have my home inspected for Termites?

We recommend all homeowners have a regular full Termite Inspection completed on their home and property annually.  This way, if termites have gained entry to your home over the last 12 months, they will be found and eradicated before too much damage occurs to the structure.

If your home has had past termite damage, it would be advisable to have more regular inspections completed, such as 6 monthly especially if you have not installed a termiticide treated soil zone around your home or have a termite monitoring system installed around the perimeter of the home.

  • I have heard noises in the roof, what should I do?

These noises could be caused by either a rodent or a possum. Contact our office and we will have one of our technicians come out and assess the situation for you. Rodents can chew through wires and cause fires and possums can leave urine stains on your ceilings.

  • Will my pets be safe?

Yes. Depending on the type of pets you have, we will advise you if they need to be moved. Usually with dogs and cats, we just ask that you put your cat or dog inside the house or garage whilst we complete our external pesticide spraying. Once the treatment has dried, is fine for them to return to the yard.

Special Note: If you have a fish pond in your yard it is necessary that this be covered whilst our external pesticide treatment is taking place. Fish are very sensitive to pesticides. We will not spray near fish ponds.

  • Should I move my furniture?

If you would like the skirting areas behind your furniture treated, it is a good idea to move the furniture or any general items, within reason, away from the skirting areas. Please be careful as we don’t want you hurting yourself! If we can access all your floor skirting areas, we will be able to apply a better line-of-defence against pests and the better protection you will have. There is no need to move refrigerators or dishwashers as we use different products and equipment in these areas that do not require movement of large appliances.
