Termite Inspections
Termites cause millions of dollars in damage to homes across Australia every year, often without the homeowner even realising there is a problem until it’s too late. Subterranean termites are particularly destructive, as they live underground and travel through concealed mud tunnels below the soil. This allows them to gain access to homes unnoticed, entering through cracks in foundations, around plumbing, or even through garden beds and timber structures that make contact with the house.
Because of their hidden activity, termites can cause extensive structural damage before visible signs appear. By the time evidence such as hollow-sounding timber, blistered paint, or sagging floors is noticed, repairs can be extremely costly.
For this reason, we strongly recommend that every home is inspected for termite activity at least once a year. An accredited Timber Pest Inspector has the expertise to identify early warning signs of termite activity, understand the biology and behaviour of termites, and know the potential entry points based on the construction type of your property. Regular inspections are the most effective way to detect termites early, reduce the risk of major infestations, and protect one of your most valuable investments — your home.
What does a Termite Inspection Involve?
Our Termite Inspection involves a thorough inspection of all accessible internal and external areas of your home and property. This includes the subfloor (if applicable) and roof void, landscaping, fencing, trees and stumps around the house as well as inside the house including high moisture areas such as the bathroom and laundry. We also inspect any physical barriers that were installed during the construction of the house, such as termite shields.
We use a Thermal imaging camera, Moisture meter and Termatrac Unit (if required) that enable us to detect any items that may be of concern that are concealed by wall linings, floors, ceiling plaster etc, without the need for physical penetration and damage. The items of concern that can be identified include active termites, termite damage, termite nests, termite mud leads, presence of moisture, moisture damage and any other structural building issues.
We can also provide a free quotation for a Termite Management System or Termite Preventative (depending on the construction of your home) whilst we are attending your property, for ongoing protection.
The Termite Inspection will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on the size of the home.
