In Australia, we believe every home should have an active termite management system in place to protect the structure. There are many types available but the most suitable one will depend on how your home is constructed. Many homes have made additions to their homes as families have expanded and sometimes more than one type of termite management system will be recommended for a home.
Chemical Soil Treatment – Termidor Treated Soil Zone
Installation of a Termidor treated soil zone around the perimeter of your home or around the piers in contact with the soil is a very effective termite management system that will last for up to 8 years in the soil in ideal conditions.
The soil around your home is trenched and flooded or drilled and injected (in the case of concrete/tiles) and Termidor termiticide is applied to the soil. Termites travelling through the soil at any time, come into contact with the Termidor treated soil zone and will transfer the product to other termites and take the product back to the nest and eliminate the nest.
If this type of management system is recommended for your home, our inspector will provide a proposal and quotation and explain the benefits of installing this type of system. We usually offer a 60 month warranty on our installations (excluding areas of limitation) however every home is different and this may vary.
It is most important that an annual termite inspection is completed to the home to keep your warranty and ensure that no termites have been given the opportunity to bridge the treated soil zone.

Active Termite Interception & Baiting Systems – Trelona ATBS
Installation of a Trelona active termite interception and baiting system can also be recommended when a Termidor treated soil zone can not be installed due to the construction of the home.
This involves installing termite interception stations around the home, approximately 3 metres apart under the drip line of the guttering (where possible). The stations have compressed termite bait cartridges inside them and are ready to go as soon as active termites enter a station. Termites start feeding immediately and the elimination process begins. These stations are inspected quarterly to ensure sufficient termite bait is present in the station for them to feed on. Termite bait is replaced as required during the 12 month contract period.

Termite Monitoring, Interception & Baiting Systems
Installation of a Nemesis or Exterra termite monitoring, interception and baiting system is recommended when a Termidor treated soil zone can not be installed due to the construction of the home.
This involves installing termite interception stations around the home, approximately 3 metres apart under the drip line of the guttering (where possible). The stations have timber inside them and a termite product and are inspected quarterly for any termite activity as part of a 12 month contract. When active termites are located in the stations, termite bait is then added for them to feed on. Active stations need to be inspected at 2 week intervals and more termite bait added as needed until elimination of the active termites is achieved. Once the termites have been eradicated, the station can be cleaned out and fresh timber installed to start the interception process again.

Reticulation Systems
Some homes have reticulation termite management systems around them already. These type of systems are usually installed when the home is constructed but can be installed afterwards in some applications. This type of system is a flexible pipe with emitters running below the ground around a structure with a number of charge points and requires recharging with termiticide every 3-5 years depending on the type of system and termiticide installed.
Termite Monitoring Boxes
If termites are discovered in your garden close to your home, our inspector may recommend installation of Rekon termite aggregation boxes. These are plastic boxes containing timber and are installed in various locations in your garden to intercept and aggregate termites so we can install termite bait inside the box for them to feed on. To achieve effective elimination of foraging termites in the garden, it is important that we have a large number to treat. Termites will eat the bait and transfer the product to others and take it back to the nest.
